Creative Industries Fund NL is looking for advisory committee members for the new Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences (ADRIE) Grant Scheme, as part of CIIIC.
We are Creative Industries Fund NL, the Netherlands' national cultural fund for design, architecture and digital culture. We implement various grant schemes across these disciplines on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. To assess applications, we work with independent advisory committees that advise the Fund's board on the awarding grants.
Our grant schemes support a diverse range of projects, makers and institutions from all over the country and the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. We therefore believe it is important that different cultural perspectives are represented in our advisory committees, and we cordially invite everyone who identifies with one of the profiles below to respond, regardless of gender, cultural background, sexual identity, education level or age. Given the international dimension of the field for which the ADRIE Grant Scheme is designed, we are also opening this vacancy to candidates from outside the Netherlands. The language of the committee meetings will be English.
In the first quarter of 2025 we will publish the Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences (ADRIE) Grant Scheme with a 2025-2027 budget of €16 million. It is aimed at newly-formed consortiums of makers, producers, institutions and researchers who can foster a strong and independent ecosystem for immersive experiences. The scheme's primary goal is to increase knowledge and skills for the development and application of immersive experiences using artistic and design research. The ADRIE Grant Scheme is part of the Dutch National Growth Fund's CIIIC (Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition), commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. The programme is a collaboration with other implementing organisations: Dutch Research Council (NWO/SIA), Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and applied science and technology organisation TNO.
For each grant scheme, the Fund works with advisory committees that can include makers, designers, researchers, observers and teachers. For the ADRIE Grant Scheme, we are creating a new committee that is separate from the Fund's other schemes. It will be led by a technical chairperson who ensures that everyone's opinion is heard, and meetings will offer a safe space to discuss the applications together with other advisors and examine them from all sides. Everyone will have an equal voice in these discussions.
In preparation for the meetings, you will read and assess the content of applications based on predetermined criteria, as well as with your own knowledge and experience, thus contributing to a broad assessment. You will receive the applications, criteria and scoring forms at least two weeks before a meeting.
As an advisory committee member you will express your opinion on, among other things, the applications' contribution to the field, the value of their artistic content, and the extent to which the project design is effective. You will also look at the budget and funding plans provided by the applicants.
The committee will use the Creative Industries Fund NL Advisory Committee Procedure. The ADRIE Grant Scheme committee will consist of a number of advisors and one technical chairperson without voting rights. The scheme has two application rounds per year for submissions by consortiums consisting of makers, producers, institutions and researchers in the fields of VR, AR, MR and other immersive experiences.
We are looking for advisory committee members with knowledge in one or more of the following categories:
The ADRIE Grant Scheme has two application rounds per year. An average of three working days are set aside for the meetings per round, with reading time taking an additional number of days spread over a two-week period. We estimate that the committee work requires an investment of at least 14 working days per year, and members will be appointed for at least one year.
For more information about the position, please email Joris van Ballegooijen at j.vanballegooijen@stimuleringsfonds.nl or call our main line on +31(0)10 436 16 00.
Please write a short cover letter detailing what motivates you to become an advisory committee member for Creative Industries Fund NL and what relevant competencies you have. To show you have the right experience, please include your CV and, if possible, a portfolio with an overview of recent projects in words and images (maximum five A4 pages).
Send your letter with your CV and portfolio (if applicable) to vacatures@stimuleringsfonds.nl no later than 30 April 2025. In the email subject, please clearly state ‘ADRIE advisory committee application’ and mention in your email the committee member category you best fit into as described above.
