Film screening 'Ruimte maken' (Making Space) @AFFR
A million new homes. More sustainable agriculture. More space for water and nature. There is a long list of ambitions for the future of the Netherlands, but the space to meet all these needs is scarce. It is precisely in challenges like these that designers can make a difference. The film Ruimte maken (Making Space) explores how design research brings together a wide range of parties to shape complex spatial transitions. It features four projects supported through the Spatial Design Action Programme (ARO).
The film premieres on Friday 9 October during the Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (AFFR). The screening is part of the Design for Transition programme, which centres on design research. Alongside Ruimte maken, the film Possible Futures: Designing Tomorrow in the Netherlands will also be screened. This will be followed by a conversation on collaboration, design and the challenges of practice.
