Julia Vytopil New Executive Director of the Creative Industries Fund NL

Julia Vytopil has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Creative Industries Fund NL by the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Rianne Letschert, on the nomination of the Supervisory Board. She will succeed Syb Groeneveld from 1 September, whose second and therefore final term will then have come to an end.

29 May 2026

Julia Vytopil (1980) was until recently Deputy Director at Beeld & Geluid (the Netherlands Institute for Sound & Vision), where she worked since 2009. She gained extensive leadership experience there and was responsible for, among other things, De Schatkamer, the online platform that has made the Beeld & Geluid archive accessible to everyone as of this week. She also worked on the renewal of the museum and on the new music collection building in Hilversum, set to open later this year. Furthermore, Julia Vytopil has been Chair of the Visual Arts committee at the Council for Culture since 2024, and holds ancillary positions at the Dutch Culture Fund, the VSC (Association of Science Centres and Science Museums), Filmtheater Hilversum, and the Comenius Museum. Throughout her career, she has always placed great importance on involving designers and forging connections with the creative sector.

Julia Vytopil: ‘Design is essential for finding new answers to the major and minor challenges of our time. Whether in architecture, design or digital culture. Creativity and experimentation are drivers of innovation and have the power to lead to social change. The Creative Industries Fund NL is a beacon for this sector and ensures cross-pollination within and beyond the field. I am absolutely delighted that I, together with the people of the Creative Industries Fund NL, will be able to contribute to the future of this sector, for the Netherlands and beyond; and from the beautiful Groot Handelsgebouw in the wonderful Rotterdam!’
