With 'Virtual Vessels', Malu Peeters develops a digital body essay that interrogates non-normative pregnant bodies. The work combines a spatial sound environment with a VR experience, in which performers guide visitors in small groups on a tender journey into the womb of 'The Pregnant Posthuman'. This virtual journey maps post-human embodiments and challenges dominant representations of pregnancy — deconstructing the ever-smiling, white, cisgendered woman joyfully cradling her bump.
