Mahir Alkaya new member of Supervisory Board

Mahir Alkaya has been appointed by Minister of Education, Culture and Science Eppo Bruins as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Creative Industries Fund NL, effective February 1, 2025. He succeeds Natalie Holwijn, whose second and final term ended on May 1, 2025.

The Creative Industries Fund NL operates with a Supervisory Board model that includes a Board and a Supervisory Board. Together, the members of the Supervisory Board represent a rich knowledge of society, the (international) design field, cultural entrepreneurship, finance, legal affairs, and corporate governance. The Supervisory Board's task is to supervise the Board's policy, the general course of affairs at the Fund, and to provide the Board with advice.

Mahir Alkaya

Mahir Alkaya is a top advisor and represents the interests of consumers at the Consumentenbond, the Dutch consumers’ association. Trained as an industrial designer, he started his career at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, where he focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. As a former member of parliament in the Dutch Lower House and chairman of his party’s programme committee, he brings knowledge of political processes and public finances. As ‘digital euro’ rapporteur, he operated at the intersection of technology and society for many years. In his book ‘Van wie wordt ons geld’ (Who will own our money), he wrote about the impact of digital money on our society and the challenges of parliamentarians in keeping a grip on technological developments.

Supervisory Board

The Supervisory Board consists of five members and, in addition to chairperson Yasemin Tümer (owner and director of Ryt Holding BV, advice and investments in good governance and diversity), includes Tom Frantzen (founder and director of FRANTZEN et al architecten), Pieter Siebinga (interim director of SNN, Samenwerkingsverband Noord-Nederland), and Marinda Verhoeven (school director of HKU Design at Utrecht University of the Arts).

Natalie Holwijn left the Supervisory Board on May 1, 2025, due to the end of her second and final term. For eight years, Holwijn served the Fund with great commitment and dedication. The Creative Industries Fund extends its sincere thanks to her.
