Updated working method for starting grants

The Design, Architecture and Digital Culture Grant Schemes have opened again. Besides the number of application rounds, the working method for starting grants has also been adjusted for the coming year.

no project plan

From 2024 you will no longer have to submit a project plan or a project canvas if you apply for a starting grant under the Design, Digital Culture and Architecture Grant Schemes. Instead, we will ask you questions in the online application environment about the project for which you are applying for a starting grant. Read more about starting grants and have a look now at the questions in the application form.

three rounds

Unlike previous years, in 2024 the Design, Architecture and Digital Culture grant schemes will have three rounds instead of four. The budget for the lapsed round will be divided equally over the three remaining rounds. Due to the increasing number of applications, the processing period will change from ten to eleven weeks. This means that you will receive the results of your application eleven weeks after the closing date at the latest.

The deadlines for the coming year are:

Design Grant Scheme
30 January 2024
7 May 2024
24 September 2024

Architecture Grant Scheme
25 January 2024
25 April 2024
19 September 2024

Digital Culture Grant Scheme
16 January 2024
16 April 2024
10 September 2024

Applications for the first rounds can be submitted from 1 December 2023 onwards.

Please note: the working method for applications for a starting grant under the Design Sector Internationalization Grant Scheme has not been adjusted. If you want to apply for a starting grant under the Design Sector Internationalization Grant Scheme, then we will still ask you to draw up a project plan that you can upload in the online application environment.
