Grounding the Cloud: Makers Present
Our digital habits feel weightless, but data centres, hardware and e-waste have a large ecological impact. With the Open Call Grounding the Cloud, we support projects that make this impact tangible and put alternatives into practice. On Friday 27 November, the first group of makers will share their work at MU Hybrid Art House. They will also be in conversation with artists from the exhibition Small & Slow AI by the Visual Methodologies Collective (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences), which is currently on show at MU. Join us for an inspiring day of workshops, presentations, installations and exchange by signing up using the form at the bottom of this page.
What to expect:
- Optional: Morning workshop by People of Earth on mesh radio and community-run communication networks.
- Presentations by People of Earth and AIxDesign.
- Installations, stands and hands-on activations by Prikbord.page, Mark IJzerman, Luuk Schröder, Gökay Atabek and more Grounding the Cloud makers.
- Two panels led by researchers Inte Gloerich (on computational ecologies) and Mariana Fernández Mora (on community efforts). Panel guests t.b.a.
