Important information

who is this scheme intended for?

This grant scheme is open to designers and makers who have at most four years' work experience in the field of design, architecture or digital culture in the Netherlands.

The grant scheme is open to designers and makers who have graduated from a relevant design study. But it is also open to designers and makers who have, through their practice, developed themselves professionally without having completed a design study.

For the conditions and restrictions please read the Talent Development Grant Scheme.
The Grant Application Guide provides an overview of the relevant design studies.

which projects are eligible for a grant?

With this grant scheme, you can apply for a grant to invest for a year in your own development for a year. The 12-month grant consists of three parts: one freely disposable part intended for your own artistic and professional development, one part for the professionalization of your personal practice and one part for presentation purposes.

what are the stages of the selection procedure?

The selection in this grant scheme is made in two rounds.

first selection round

The first selection is made on the basis of a portfolio, CV and motivation/pitch. Designers and makers who graduated from one of these design studies no more than four years ago apply through the regular selection round. For designers and makers who have developed professionally without having completed a relevant design study, there are scout nights. You can apply for this via the Open Call Scout Nights.

second selection round

The final selection is made on the basis of a development plan. After you have been selected in the first selection round or during the scout nights, you will receive € 1,000 for drawing up this development plan.

The criteria for the second round are explained in the Grant Application Guide Development Plan.

what happens to your application?

acceptance
When you have submitted your application, the Fund Desk will check if your application complies with the formal requirements of the Talent Development Grant Scheme.

assessment
The selection is made in two rounds. The applications in the first round are assessed by the advisory committee on the basis of the Talent Development Grant Scheme.

For the final selection, the advisory committee assesses the development plans in the second round on the basis of the Talent Development Grant Scheme. The committee advises the Fund’s Board.

tender
Applications received will be ranked according to the scores allotted to them by the advisory committee meeting. This means that some applications will be chosen above others in terms of the places available. Only positively assessed applications will be supported.

If, based on their average score, applications end up on an equal ranking position, and the grant ceiling is reached with these applications, then these applications will be ranked as follows:
- First, prioritization is based on the score given to the criterium ‘development capability’.
- Next, prioritization is based on ‘the extent to which the development plan and the proposed activities contribute to a stand-out and significant practice within the creative industry’.

prioritization
If the total amount requested in the applications eligible for funding exceeds the budget available for that particular grant round, prioritization will take place.

decision
The Board takes account of the committee’s advice in its decision on the rejection or provision of the grant. You will be notified of the result by means of a decision. Individual feedback is not given in the first round.

The final selection will be announced in early August 2022. All applicants in this round will receive individual feedback.

accountability
If you receive a grant from the Fund, then you will have to comply with the obligations. Two weeks before the conclusion of your project, you will be asked by email to submit your accountability form in the application environment.
