The Salone del Mobile 2024, one of the largest international fairs for furniture and product design, is taking place from 16 to 21 April 2024. The Creative Industries Fund NL is enabling 10 Dutch starting makers, designers and architects to present their work internationally for the first time. They will participate in a group presentation at cultural centre BASE Milano.

grouppresentation

The group exhibition is part of the overarching We Will Design programme at BASE Milano. The program provides space for projects that focus on topics such as spatial justice, unity and solidarity. With the Open Call BASE at Salone del Mobile 2024, the Fund is actively offering a stepping stone to individual makers who have not presented work internationally before. In doing so, the Fund increases the international visibility of Dutch up-and-coming designers. In addition, the open call’s objective is the exchange of knowledge and experiences and to build long-lasting international relationships.

general impression

The 10 selected projects show great diversity in themes, disciplines, forms of presentation and cultural diversity. For example, Anas Chao makes a Dutch dumpling, Sonia Górecka creates with Slavic Phantasmagoria. Orphanage of meanings., an installation on the ongoing unrest in the Slavic countries, and Loi Studio provides insight into queerness within public spaces through a presentation of a carpet and a publication.
