Important information

who is this open call for?

This open call is open to:
- Professional designers, architects, makers and design agencies with long-standing practices in the Netherlands or in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, from all disciplines in the creative industry;
- National and international presentation institutions, exhibition spaces or museums.

which projects are eligible for a grant?

- The project relates to a presentation abroad, such as retrospective exhibitions, group exhibitions, events or performances;
- There is a need for a grant of between € 10,000 and € 25,000;
- There is a well-motivated plan in which the relevance and objective of the presentation, including the team involved and co-financing, are set out;
- Presentations must be carried out in one of the 24 countries named in the listed in the International Cultural Policy Framework 2021-2024 (Beleidskader Internationaal Cultuurbeleid 2021-2024). Please note: that projects cannot take place in countries and territories where at the time of the planned presentation travel restrictions and/or urgent advisories are in place to that country/territory;
- The contribution is intended for travelling, accommodation, transportation, preparation and/or presentation expenses and fees;
- Projects that are supported under this open call may not submit an additional application to the Creative Industries Fund NL’s International Vouchers Grant Scheme.

which projects are not eligible for support?

In addition to the provisions of Article 5 of the Open Call Grant Scheme, support cannot be applied for within this procedure for:

- Participation in international events for which the Fund has a separate procedure;
- Strategic trade missions aimed at building up networks;
- Projects focussed on market exploration/market expansion;
- Educational activities;
- Trade fair presentations.

Open Call Presentations Abroad

Applications are assessed on the basis of the Open Call Presentations Abroad. This states the objective, conditions, criteria and procedure.

Open Call Grant Scheme

Applications are assessed on the basis of the Open Call Grant Scheme. This scheme describes the general conditions, grounds for rejection, manner of publication, submission process, assessment and award procedures, and grant obligations.

how to submit an application?

Applications can be submitted at any time within the period via the Fund’s online application environment. Select the ‘Open Call Presentations Abroad’ grant scheme.

An application should consist of:
- application form
- project plan (maximum 6 pages) that offers insight into personal motivation, presentation’s relevance and a description of the activities and/or the topic of the exhibition.
- agreement or letter of intent from the parties concerned
- balanced budget and finance plan covering the total project costs (maximum 2 pages)
- timetable (maximum 1 page)
- communications or presentation plan (maximum 2 pages)
- extract from the Commercial Register of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce or a foreign equivalent
- CVs of the parties that are directly involved (maximum 2 pages per person)
- portfolio (maximum 10 pages), optional
- representative image

If the application does not meet the description above, no substantive assessment can take place.

Projects cannot start before the date of the decision (10 weeks after submission), and must have started within 12 months from the date of the decision.

what is assessed?

Grant applications will be submitted to three external independent advisers for assessment. They assess the plans based on the Open Call Presentations Abroad and the Open Call Grant Scheme.

- relevance to the Dutch creative industry

what happens to your application?

acceptance

When you have submitted your application, the Fund Desk will check if your application is complete, fits within the spectrum of the open call and complies with the Open Call Grant Scheme’s conditions and grounds for rejection.

assessment

Your application will be assessed on the basis of the Open Call Presentations Abroad and the Open Call Grant Scheme by three independent advisors. The Fund also asks the Dutch embassy in the country where the presentation takes place to issue a statement about the position of the institution in question. This statement will be shared with the advisers and taken into account in the assessment. The advisors will issue substantiated advice to the Fund’s Board about whether to reject or award a grant.

decision

The Board takes account of the committee’s advice in its decision on the rejection or provision of the grant. You will be notified about the result in a decision. You will receive this no later than ten weeks after submitting your application.

accountability

If you receive a grant from the Fund, then you will have to comply with the obligations. Two weeks before the conclusion of your project, you will be asked by email to submit your accountability form in the application environment.
