Looking ahead: Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences Grant Scheme

In 2025, the Creative Industries Fund NL launched the Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences (ADRIE) Grant Scheme, part of the Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition (CIIIC). The scheme is aimed at consortiums of makers, producers, institutions and researchers working through artistic and design research on the development and application of immersive experiences, via a two-year activities programme. We look ahead to 2028 and 2029, and point to other grant schemes that may be of interest in the meantime.

What has already happened?

In 2025 and 2026, new consortiums had the opportunity to apply for the Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences (ADRIE) Grant Scheme. Five consortiums were already selected and are now implementing their two-year activities programmes.

Next phase

The next application opportunities for the ADRIE Grant Scheme are expected to follow in 2028 and 2029. Based on these rounds, we hope to once again support a maximum of ten consortiums in the realisation of two-year activities programmes, the implementation of which will take place in 2029–2030 or 2030–2031. This has not yet been finalised, as implementation depends on funding for the second phase of CIIIC by the National Growth Fund.

What is possible in the meantime?

In the meantime, another implementing partner within CIIIC offers opportunities for consortiums interested in applying to the ADRIE Grant Scheme in 2028 or 2029. In 2026 and 2027, Taskforce for Applied Research SIA is running three funding schemes with a focus on practice-based research by researchers at universities of applied sciences, universities and other research institutions, in collaboration with SMEs and/or public organisations.

These schemes may be of interest to consortiums wishing to submit an application for the ADRIE Grant Scheme and looking to carry out a preliminary study first. They may also be valuable for consortiums already receiving support, where the implementation of an activities programme under the ADRIE Grant Scheme has shown that further research is needed.
