A maximum of € 1,300,000 subsidy is available per consortium to implement the related two-year programme for 2026-2027. This is subject to a co-financing requirement of at least € 400,000.
Preferably prepare your application, including requested documents, in English because of the international advisory committee.
This grant scheme is aimed at newly-formed consortiums of makers, producers, institutions and researchers. They can apply for a grant for a two-year programme with a central focus on the quality of artistic and design research into immersive experiences. Application round 1A is for requesting a grant to develop a programme, while application round 1B is for requesting a grant to implement that programme.
A consortium consists of at least three participants who are established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and who complement each other in knowledge and working methods and intend to implement a programme in a substantively equal way.
The following three core groups must be represented in the consortium:
- Individual or collective makers and designers of IX projects, and IX producers in the cultural and media fields. Both the role of a maker and a producer must be represented in the consortium.
- Organisations in the cultural and media fields that:
- Facilitate the development and/or presentation of IX productions.
- Reach the public and/or participants to experience IX productions.
- Facilitate substantive debate and context around IX. - Contribute to artistic and design research (as a client or from a research function embedded in the organisation).
- Researchers working at a college or university who contribute to and apply theoretical and practical knowledge, methodologies and tools in an integral, practice-oriented and possibly also fundamental way within artistic and design research.
In addition, one or more parties may act as international partners of the consortium.
In preparation for applying, it is important to familiarise yourself with the following documents:

In application round 1A, you only need to declare that the consortium meets the minimum conditions named in the guideline. In application round 1B, consortium participants must complete and submit the full self-assessment, in which they describe to what extent they meet the public values within the programme. More information about the public values in IX can be found on the website of CIIIC (in Dutch).
Applications are assessed by the advisory committee for this scheme using the Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences Grant Scheme.
assessment criteria round 1A
- Consortium composition: the advisory committee will look at who the consortium participants are and what roles they fulfil. International partners affiliated with the consortium will also be assessed, as well as how the parties complement each other in terms of knowledge and working methods, and whether there is substantively equal cooperation.
- Expected contributions of the consortium to the development and innovation of the Dutch IX field: the advisory committee will look at the extent to which IX artistic and design research is central to consortiums, as well as their potential contribution to the field and its social significance. The extent to which consortiums align with the CIIIC Innovation Agenda sub-themes will also be assessed, as well as whether the choice of themes is sufficiently motivated.
- Consortium business health: is it sufficiently demonstrated that the consortium functions in a responsible and sustainable manner?
- Consistency in purpose and design of applications: all documents of which your application consists will be assessed for their mutual relationships and coherence.
Different assessment criteria apply to application round 1B. These can be found in Article 14 of the grant scheme.
processing
After an application for round 1A is submitted, it will be checked against the entry requirements detailed in the Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences Grant Scheme.
