Julia Kannegieter | Julia Kannegieter
Julia Kannegieter was selected through the Open Call Self-taught Designer. Kannegieter is a landscape designer and focuses on the disturbed relationship between humans and nature in contemporary society. She explores how people have distanced themselves from natural rhythms and retreated into rigid concrete structures.
In previous projects, Kannegieter explored organic structures in urban design and the historical development of the human-nature relationship. She recently started her own company combining art, poetry and landscape architecture, and focusing on nature and human experience.
During the development year, Kannegieter will follow the seasons as a guide: in autumn she gathers knowledge through literature and conversations with experts, in winter she reflects, in spring she experiments with bushcraft and travels to Japan, and in summer she creates land-art and collaborations. The year will result in a publication and presentations that inspire others to reflect on our relationship with nature.
