For individual designers, makers or observers in digital culture who want to research and develop new work focusing on social and urban dynamics in Hong Kong during a work period at Videotage using various forms of media art.
The Creative Industries Fund NL launch this residency in collaboration with media arts institution Videotage. This Videotage residency encourages crossover and experimentation, offering a chance to learn from other perspectives and ideas.
Participants will have the space to conduct research, broaden their network, and develop new work with a focus on social and urban dynamics in Hong Kong. They can explore new areas of work, broaden their creative practice, and produce new work that pushes the boundaries of digital culture. In addition to looking forward, we specifically ask participants to focus on Hong Kong's development and the role that old and new media have played in it.
Applications can be submitted by individual designers, makers or observers based in the Netherlands who focus on digital culture and have had a professional practice within the creative industry for at least five years.
It is not possible to apply for duos, collectives or collaborations. Also, designers and makers who currently receive grants through the Creative Industry Fund's Talent Development Grant Scheme are not eligible for this residency spot.
In order to prepare the application, it is important to acquire the right information based on the following documents:
Applications are assessed on the basis of the Open Call Videotage residency 2025, which describes the reason and objective, central questions, criteria and procedure.
Applications are assessed on the basis of the Open Call Grant Scheme, which describes the general conditions, grounds for rejection, manner of publication, submission procedure, assessment, the award and any grant obligations. The assessment of the open call takes the form of a tender: this means that within the available budget, a number of proposals are chosen above the others. Only positively assessed applications will be supported.
The Board takes account of the committee’s advice in its decision on the rejection or provision of the grant. You will be notified about the result in a decision.
