Important information

Think Tanger is a multidisciplinary cultural platform dedicated to promoting culture, creativity, innovation and exchange within Tangier, Morocco. The organization, founded in 2016, brings together artists, designers, researchers, entrepreneurs and local communities to critically examine, expand understanding of and facilitate dialogue on urban and cultural dynamics within a transforming city. Think Tanger acknowledges the significant influence of the urban environment on individuals and communities and considers that positive change can take place through alternative education, creative entrepreneurship, artistic production and participatory research.

The residency at Think Tanger, in collaboration with the Creative Industries Fund NL and the Mondriaan Fund, was set up to stimulate crossover and experimentation while fostering an exchange of perspectives and ideas. It offers designers and artists opportunities for research, network expansion and the development of new work, with a focus on design, urbanism and socio-spatial dynamics. Participants engage with Tangier’s unique context, confronting preconceptions and addressing societal challenges creatively.

Applications can be submitted by individual designers, architects, spatial practitioners and observers via the Creative Industries Fund NL. It is not possible to apply as a duo, collective or in a collaborative arrangement.

Per residency period only one designer and one artist can work at Think Tanger at the same time.

Visual artists and curators can submit a proposal via the Mondriaan Fund by 21 March 2024 at the latest.
