about innovationlabs

What can we do to make the cultural and creative sector agile and resilient in the long term? Makers, cultural institutions and other creative parties tackled this question in the Innovationlabs programme. A total of 33 projects were supported through the two editions of the programme. The programme was an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and was implemented by the Creative Industries Fund NL on behalf of the six national culture funds, in collaboration with CLICKNL. The programme was intended for innovation projects where new knowledge, insights and ideas were developed for current challenges in the cultural and creative sector.

Besides financial support, the programme also offered coaching and guidance on developing and sharing knowledge. Participants were encouraged to contribute their thoughts on the opportunities and obstacles of each other’s innovation projects and to share their knowledge and insights with the sector. In doing so, they were assisted by coaches who asked questions and helped with reflecting on the process, as ‘critical friends’.

Linked to the programme was a joint research process that brought together five lector-led research groups, focused on knowledge development for the cultural and creative sector. The aim of this process was to achieve broad embedding of the knowledge and insights gained within the programme.
